BOMB THROWN ON TO ROOF OF HOTEL
MELBOURNE. Tuesday.
A bomb, which was thrown on to the roof of the St. Andrew’s Hotel, Queenstown 25 miles from Melbourne, at 9 o’clock last night, blew a hole in the corrugated iron roof and damaged the bar. Early this morning a black-tracker followed a trail of a man through the
bush to a camp three miles away. A man was found in bed and was interviewed.

Nestled in the foothills of the Kinglake National Park, 40 minutes from Melbourne, is the ‘Grand Old Pub’ at St Andrews. St Andrews (originally known as Queenstown) was famous as a gold mining area from the 1850s till the mid 1900s. The hotel was opened by E.H. Cameron in 1858. Today it is fast becoming one of Victoria’s top live music venues, famous around Australia for attracting great Blues and Roots musicians to perform in the wonderful atmosphere that a huge open fire, no pokies and traditional pub hospitality can offer.
