Rebel Irish flag at Adelaide hotel

irish flagA genuine Sinn Fein (Irish rebel) flag, over 50 years old, flew outside the Southern Cross Hotel in King William street yesterday in observance of St. Patrick’s Day.

The manager of the Southern Cross (Mr. M. C. Flannagan) said the flag was the only one in Australia and was brought out here by his great-great-grandfather at the beginning of the century.

The flag is emerald green with the gold Irish harp in the centre.

Another King William street hotel flew an emerald green flag with a Union Flag in a top corner. It is not listed officially.
