ONE of Brisbane’s most cherished historical landmarks, the Lord Stanley Hotel, is currently undergoing a $15 million transformative refurbishment that promises to restore the grandeur of this iconic venue.

Originally built in 1889-90 by Walter Samuel Smith and designed by renowned Brisbane architect Richard Gailey, the Lord Stanley Hotel has stood as a testament to Brisbane’s rich history and community spirit for over 130 years. Now, under the ownership of the Hakfoort Group, the hotel is being reimagined for a new era, preparing to reopen its doors in early 2025 with a fresh new look and exciting amenities.

Situated near the Gabba and destined to become a prime venue for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, the Lord Stanley Hotel is positioning itself as a central hub for both locals and visitors alike.

A spokesperson for the Hakfoort Group said the renovation will ensure the character of the hotel is retained by painstakingly restoring valuable heritage elements of the original building while embracing the modern comforts and expectations of today’s patrons.

“We are thrilled to be bringing the Lord Stanley Hotel into the future while maintaining its deep historical significance,” the spokesperson told Time Gents.

“This refurbishment will create a space where people can gather, celebrate, and experience the best of what Brisbane has to offer.”
