WHEELBARROW BUG BITES PINGELLY

LA cornell exchange hotel pingelly pouring beer 1935

FOR A £10 SIDE WAGER, Bert Wilson, a Pingelly blacksmith (WA), pushed Ben Jackson (sitter) in a barrow from Brookton to Pingelly (12½ miles) in 5 hours, 14 minutes. The wager was that the distance would be done in under 12 hours. The picture shows a ‘spell-o’ on the road, with Mr. L. A. Cornell, of the Exchange Hotel, Pingelly, refreshing the sitter. Note the rubber-tyred barrow.
