RELEASED FROM CIVIC DUTIES, Mr. A. E. Laws, ex-Labor alderman, helps to quench Sydney’s thirst from behind the bar of the Australian Hotel, in Market Street.

–  The Daily Telegraph December 22 1927.

The Australian Hotel, which traded on the north-east corner of Kent and Market Streets, Sydney, later became known as Malletts Inn Hotel, and up until its closure in 1970, Ryans Hotel. The pub never re-opened after a fire in 1970.
