The Local features historic images, old advertisements, graphs and tables, showing the history of long lost watering holes, like the Grenadier at Otford, the Heathcote Hotel at Waterfall, the Clifton Inn, the soon to be re-opened, Imperial Hotel, at Clifton, the North Illawarra and Headlands Hotels, both at Austinmer, and the Paragon Hotel at Helensburgh.

The book also features a chapter on the survivors, the Centenial Hotel at Helensburgh and the Scarborough Hotel at Scarborough.
