The construction of the Criterion Hotel, Moree in 1935.
FREE BEER
All roads led to a bar at Moree the other day, when there was free beer for two hours to commemorate the opening of the Criterion Hotel, a new building which replaces the old
Criterion, which was the town’s oldest hotel and was destroyed by fire about a year ago. The new hotel has 25 bedrooms and is lavishly furnished. Most of the interior woodwork is of Queensland maple. During the two hours’ free beer the crowd at times was five or six deep, at the bar.
