John Dorahy, ‘resting-up’at The Wollongong Hotel.
Mr John Dorahy, president of the Illawarra branch of the U.L.V.A. (Later Australian Hotels Association), and licensee of the Wollongong Hotel, spent last Thursday ‘resting up,’ when employees at his hotel decided to join in a stoppage for 24 hours as a protest against a recent award. Like a number of other hotelkeepers in this district, he solved his staff problem by arranging for his guests to eat at a nearby cafe and asking them to make their own beds – He then had a day off himself.
