The Ainslie Rex Hotel has honoured one of its consistent and oldest drinkers – a 69-year-old Welshman. He is Taffy Shepherd, pictured, of Ainslie. Taffy sits in one cor-ner of the hotel every day for about six hours, and the management of the hotel has erected a small plaque reading: “Taffy’s Corner.” Before retiring from the Parks and Gardens section of the Department of the Interior four years ago, Taffy drank at the hotel every day after work, but can now find time to pursue his favourite pastime at length.
