A WOMAN turned a few heads within the bar of the Richmond Club Hotel in Richmond, Victoria in 1891 when she plunged completely naked into the outside water trough.

Today the horse drinking trough outside the Swan Street pub has long disappeared.

On August 6 1891 the woman walked stark-naked down Swan Street and deliberately took a dip in the trough outside the pub, informing the surprised onlookers that she was on fire and needed to be extinguished.

Newspapers of the time reported that she then rushed into Church Street and twice repeated the dipping process in other water troughs along route. She was ultimately arrested by the police and bundled off for medical treatment.
